In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we wonder what changes the way we think about waiting and delay. Not an episode in frustration, but patience. Not a problem that God’s timing has gone wrong, but an expression that God’s heart is kind.
“Most of us learn to hate waiting even before we could tie our shoelaces. That long car journey. The countdown to Christmas. The kettle that never boils quickly enough when you need it in a hurry.
“The Bible says something similar about history itself. We are waiting for a future day that God has promised, and for 2000 years, Christians have waited for Jesus Christ to return and put everything right. So why the wait?
“Peter answered directly in two Peter chapter three. He says, the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
“See, what looks like delay and waiting is a door that’s being held open. Peter wrote to Christians already waiting on this promise, but the long wait isn’t a sign that something’s gone wrong. Actually, it’s God’s mercy that’s being extended for anyone who wants to come home. The door is open. His patience, his kindness.”
