The “Bad Reputation” singer is taking time off the road to “begin the necessary healing process”
Joan JettĀ is taking time off touring to heal following a recent surgery.
On Wednesday, the āBad Reputationā singerās team announced that two upcoming shows in September were cancelled following orthopedic surgery on her back.
āFollowing a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process,ā read the statement posted on Instagram Stories. āIn close consultation with her doctors, Joan will not be able to perform at her forthcoming September scheduled shows in Costa Mesa, CA on September 5th and in Louisville, KY on September 24th.ā
Jett and her band, the Blackhearts, were scheduled to take the stage at the Orange County Fair in California and the Bourbon and Beyond Festival in Kentucky.
The statement added that while JettĀ āhates to disappoint fans, she will be taking this time to focus on physical therapy and healing,ā and is ālooking forward to delivering tremendous concerts for many years to come.ā
When speaking to The Telegraph in June, Jett reflected on having toured āevery year of my life since Iāve been in a band.ā āSo the touring I donāt mind. Itās the traveling thatās an ass-kicker, Iāll tell you,ā Jett said. āAs I get older, itās not as easy to recuperate as when I was in my 20s.ā
When asked what motivated her to continue hitting the road, Jett replied, āConnection with people.ā The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer continued: āTo be able to give people joy. Especially these days, [when] we need it more than ever⦠We can all finally be one for a moment, as clichĆ©d as that sounds. But itās true. When you can lose yourself in that moment⦠itās not about thinking about whatās going to happen. You just do it. You just be it.ā
