Jon Stewart has compared Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to the villain on Prime’s The Boys.
“Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona will be joining us,” Stewart teased early on in Monday’s episode of The Daily Show. “Man! Just today, just today, the senator had his rank stripped and his retirement pay docked by the secretary of defense/war, Pete Hegseth/Homelander. And the senator will be joining us, and I will ask him if he knows we do not pay our guests.”

The Emmy winner likened President Donald Trump’s cabinet member to the supervillain played by Antony Starr on the Prime Video series about vigilantes working to expose and ultimately remove from power the corrupt superheroes led by Homelander.
Hegseth said in a social media message Monday that the military has started to take action against Kelly, a former astronaut and the husband of Gabby Giffords, the Arizona congresswoman shot in 2011 in an assassination attempt. Hegseth’s censure is less serious than a court-martial, but reduces the retired Navy captain’s rank and retirement benefits. The secretary cited a November video that Kelly had participated in which he and other Democrats told those in the military that they must refuse illegal orders, a message Hegseth expressed himself in 2016.
Stewart also mocked Trump’s approach to his administration’s attack on Venezuela. He played a clip of Trump saying that he “watched it literally like I was watching a television show.”
Stewart imitated the president: “And then I flipped over to see who was on Kimmel. I mean, can you believe he still gets to interview Millie Bobby Brown? I mean, he’s got no talent. Anyway, back to abducting the president of Venezuela.”
Trump has infamously feuded with late-night TV hosts, especially Kimmel, for months. The politician regularly calls out the Jimmy Kimmel Live star.
“Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?” Trump wrote on Truth Social in November. “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”
