The Beatles will be getting not one but four separate theatrical biopic films from Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes and his Neal Street Productions.

Four lads have been cast to portray each member of the iconic British quartet, and many more have been recruited to play important figures in their lives. The project marks the first time that Apple Corps Ltd. And The Beatles — Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison — have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

For all the details about release order of Sam Mendes’ The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, who’s playing who and more, follow along below.

When will Sam Mendes’ four Beatles movies come out?

April 2028 is the projected release window for all four films at the moment, as was revealed at 2025’s CinemaCon.

Who will play the Beatles in Sam Mendes’ four films? Who else is in the cast of the Beatles movies?

Paul Mescal (Gladiator II, Aftersun) will play Paul McCartney. Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Gladiator II) will play George Harrison. Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) will play drummer Ringo Starr. And Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Babygirl) will play John Lennon.

Deadline broke the news that James Norton has been tapped to portray Brian Epstein, The Beatles’ longtime manager, in the films. Saoirse Ronan (Little Women, Ladybird) will play Paul McCartney’s first wife Linda McCartney, as Deadline exclusively reported. Mia McKenna Bruce will portray Ringo Starr’s first wife Maureen Starkey.

Anna Sawai addressed the rumor that she was circling the role of John Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono as “just a rumor” at the 2025 SAG Awards. Sawai is now confirmed to be playing Ono alongside McKenna-Bruce and Ronan as well as Aimee Lou Wood as Patty Boyd — George Harrison’s first wife.

Who are writing Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies?

Deadline exclusively reported that Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne will write the screenplays for the biopic films.

Are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr involved in their respective biopics?

After Starr confirmed that Keoghan had been eyed to portray him, Keoghan revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Starr asked him to play the drums in front of the legendary drummer. Starr played for Keoghan, but the actor did not want to play in front of Starr.

Starr told The New York Times that he had some notes on the script for his individual film, particularly regarding how it portrayed him and his first wife Maureen Starkey.
