Meghan Markle’s “tasteless” photos of Princess Diana’s childhood home will likely make Prince William “livid”, a royal expert claims. The Duchess of Sussex posted her summer holiday pictures on social media on Friday (July 24).
They included an image appearing to show her enjoying time with the late Princess Diana’s brother and Prince Harry’s uncle, Earl Spencer. Meghan can be seen on a sun lounger beside a pool and in the background are a man and woman whose resemblance to Charles Spencer and his new wife, Cat Jarman, is striking.
Another picture appears to show the Sussexes and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, enjoying a break at the Spencer family’s ancestral seat, Althorp House.
In it, Lilibet can be seen walking through formal gardens behind her brother and father who can be seen ahead of her in the distance.
Harry and Archie appear in another photo to be carrying bouquets, that may suggest the family visited Diana’s grave, which is on an island in the middle of a lake at Althorp.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich claimed Harry’s older brother, Prince William, will likely be “livid” about the photos.
She told Fox News: “Not only is Prince William likely to be livid regarding such commercialisation of Althorp in such a tacky tasteless media post, it’ll fuel his disgust so he shall thwart any major re-entry.”
Ms Fordwich suggested Queen Camilla, courtiers, palace aides and security officials would all “do their utmost” to thwart Meghan and Harry’s attempts to make a royal comeback in the UK.
Fellow royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, said Meghan’s post would have been allowed by the Spencers, given Althorp is the family home.
During their visit to the UK the Duke and Duchess took their children to see King Charles for the first time in four years at his home on the Highgrove estate.
But Ms Fordwich said that while Charles “no doubt” wants Harry to return to the royal fold, William’s “stance” means there will be no return to any significant royal role.
William and Harry have been estranged for a number of years, with the distance between the siblings said to have grown in the wake of allegations levelled at the Royal Family in the Duke’s memoir, Spare, as well as the Sussexes’ Netflix series and interview with Oprah Winfrey.
