A fire has broken out near a train station in London on Sunday evening (May 24) with all rail services suspended. A picture from the scene on Cottrill Gardens, close to Hackney Central, shows orange flames and black smoke billowing into the air above.
London Fire Brigade says: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a fire on Cottrill Gardens in Hackney. A static caravan and two cars are alight, as well as part of a grass embankment.”
Meanwhile, Transport for London (TfL) say the Weaver Line has been suspended due to a fire alert. An update on their website states: “No service while we respond to a fire alert at Hackney Central.”
The Mildmay Line is also part suspended with severe delays reported. Travellers should leave extra time for their journeys and expect delays.
