There are several reasons why the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Credit Card earned the coveted title of TPG’s favorite new personal credit card of 2025, and the Global Companion Award is a major one.

Among the card’s suite of benefits, the companion award stands out for both its simplicity and its potential value. Used strategically, it can deliver substantial savings, particularly on high-cost international or premium-cabin award flights.

Whether you already have the card in your wallet or are considering applying, here’s what you need to know about the Atmos Summit’s Global Companion Award.

What is the Global Companion Award?

The Global Companion Award is an exclusive benefit of the Atmos Rewards Summit that allows cardholders to reduce the points cost of a companion’s award ticket when booking two seats on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and eligible Oneworld partner airlines.

Each cardmember anniversary, cardholders receive a 25,000-point Global Companion Award. Those who spend $60,000 or more in a cardmember year can earn a second award worth 100,000 points.

According to TPG’s March 2026 valuations, the 25,000-point award is worth $375, and the 100,000-point award is worth $1,500. Taxes and fees still apply when redeeming either award.

When booking two award tickets, the certificate automatically discounts the companion’s ticket by either 25,000 or 100,000 Atmos Rewards points (depending on which award you’re using). This can make the benefit especially valuable on expensive international or business-class itineraries.

Global Companion Awards are always valid for 12 months from issuance. As long as you book your ticket before the expiration date, your travel can take place after the one-year mark.

How do I earn the Global Companion Award?

    Earning the benefit is straightforward:

    • 25,000-point award: Automatically issued each cardmember anniversary
    • 100,000-point award: Earned after spending $60,000 or more on purchases within a cardmember year

Each award is deposited into your Atmos Rewards account, and you can redeem it for travel on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and eligible Oneworld partner airlines.

How do I use the Global Companion Award?

You can apply the Global Companion Award to new award bookings on Alaska, Hawaiian or eligible partner airlines.

    Here’s how it works:

    1. Search for award availability for two passengers.
    2. Select your flights.
    3. At checkout, the companion award will automatically apply and discount the second ticket.

For example, say a one-way award from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo costs 35,000 Atmos Rewards points. You’d pay the full 35,000 points for the first ticket, but then if you apply a 25,000-point Global Companion Award, the second ticket would cost just 10,000 points (plus taxes and fees).

Just keep in mind that you must pay taxes, fees and any applicable surcharges with your Atmos Rewards Summit.

Before booking, there are a few other key rules you’ll want to be aware of:

    • You cannot use both the 25,000-point and 100,000-point awards on the same booking.
    • The cardholder does not need to be the one traveling: You can book for any two passengers.
    • The award must be applied at the time of booking and cannot be added to an existing reservation.
    • You must book before the award expires (generally within 12 months of issuance), though travel can occur later.
    • You can cancel and rebook, provided the award has not expired.

What happens if the ticket costs more or less than the Global Companion Award?

If the companion ticket costs more than 25,000 or 100,000 points (depending on which Global Companion Award you are using), you can use additional Atmos Rewards points to cover the difference at checkout.

If the ticket costs less than the value of your award, any unused portion is forfeited. For that reason, it typically makes the most sense to use your Global Companion Award on itineraries that cost at least the full value of the certificate; although, using it on a lower-cost ticket is still preferable to letting the award go unused.

    Bottom line

The Global Companion Award is one of the most compelling features of the Atmos Rewards Summit. By reducing (or even eliminating in some cases) the points cost of a second ticket, it can deliver outsize value on premium or long-haul redemptions.

For frequent award travelers, especially those booking international flights, the annual 25,000-point award alone can go a long way toward offsetting the card’s annual fee. The 100,000-point award can be exceptionally valuable, though maximizing it requires higher-cost redemptions and significant annual spending.

As always, it’s worth running your own numbers, but for the right traveler, this benefit can be a powerful tool for stretching Atmos Rewards points further.
