A gender-critic campaigner has accused Girlguiding of “misleading boys into false promises” after the organisation said transgender girls who are members must leave the organisation in mere months.
Previously, Girlguiding attracted criticism for refusing to accept the trans Supreme Court ruling last year – but the charity has since appeared to U-turn on their decision.
In December, it was announced membership would be limited to biological girls and women only, leading to outrage from pro-trans campaigners.
The advice from the group followed the verdict last April, which ruled that the term “women” only referred to biological women. And now, today, it was revealed that trans girls would have to leave the organisation by September 6.
Weighing in on the latest Girlguiding advice, Fiona McAnena, of gender critical lobby group Sex Matters, told GB News it was “shocking” that 18 months on, Girlguiding will finally implement the judicial ruling.
“This row at Girlguiding has been going on for eight or nine years now from when guide leaders first said this is meant to be a girls’ organisation,” Ms McAnena told the People’s Channel.
“And of course, Girlguiding as a charity is dedicated to providing activities for girls. But they decided that some boys could be girls.
“What this is now going to settle once and for all is that Girlguiding is indeed an organisation for girls.

“If you want to be in mixed company, go and join the Scouts or do something else.
“When you say transgender girls, it’s important for people to understand that’s boys who say they’re girls. And you know, if girls want to be in female only company, then Girlguiding is now the place.”
She continued: “It’s pretty shocking that it’s taken 18 months from when the Supreme Court ruled on this for Girlguiding to deliver to girls that female-only space.
“But I think it’s right for the boys too, because they’ve been misled. They’ve been they’ve been sold a promise that they can join in with the girls and pretend to be girls.

“And whatever it is those boys are feeling, they cannot become girls. So it’s hard on them too. But it’s right for everyone that we reset and engage in the truth with these children.”
Since the ruling, the group said the organisation had assessed “detailed considerations, expert legal advice and input from senior members, young members” ahead of implementing the ruling.
The new guidance has also asserted any trans girl or woman would have to switch to a unisex position by the time the ruling is actioned.
The charity has said time between now and September will allow “affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when they feel ready to leave”.
A full statement from Girlguiding reads: “Following the Supreme Court decision last year relating to sex and gender, Girlguiding’s board of trustees confirmed that trans girls and young women, from December 2 2025, would no longer be able to join Girlguiding.
“This decision was made to make sure we were operating lawfully and follow our governing charity documents, which affect how our membership eligibility is defined.
“Today, Girlguiding shared further operational information with our members about the timings for this change.
“The update explained that current young members who are trans girls can stay with Girlguiding until September 6 2026.
“This allows affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when – between now and September – they feel ready to leave.
“Any trans girl or trans woman who is currently volunteering in a role open to women only will need to move to a role that is open to all volunteers by September 6 2026.”
