After 40 seasons and more than a decade on air, The Kitchen is closing.
The Food Network announced Monday that the culinary-themed weekend chat show will end its run in December.
“We’re immensely grateful to our hosts, crew, guests, and most of all, our loyal viewers for 10+ incredible years,” the network said in an Instagram post announcing the news. “Thank you for tuning in, cooking along, and being part of our community. Please join us for one final holiday season together in #TheKitchen.”
Launched in January 2014, The Kitchen teamed up celebrity chefs in a format combining the culinary instruction of a series like Martha Stewart Living with the conversational approach of a talk show like The View. The show’s current lineup features original cohosts Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Jeff Mauro, and Geoffrey Zakarian, plus recurring guest Alex Guarnaschelli.
Celebrity guests across the Daytime Emmy-nominated series’ 500-plus episodes have ranged from Daniel Radcliffe to Susan Lucci to Regina King.
Several of the the show’s stars paid tribute to the long-running series in the wake of Monday’s news.
“I got to spend a dozen years with my best friends — cooking, laughing, and eating life-changing bites from some of the world’s greatest chefs and cooks,” Mauro wrote in an Instagram post. Naming each of his current colleagues, he signed off, “I love you all and will cherish every moment we created together.”
