Picture Tree Intl. has acquired the international sales rights, excluding Benelux, to the Flemish noir thriller “Night Creatures” (Nachtvlinders), directed by Indra Siera (“Old Belgium,” “Professor T.”). The film will be introduced to international buyers at the upcoming American Film Market.

Kinepolis Film Distribution will release the film in Benelux on Nov. 5.

“Night Creatures” is based on the international bestseller “Le Monte Charge ” (Bird in a Cage) by French author Frédéric Dard. The novel has been published in several languages, including English, Spanish and Italian.

The film centers on Dylan, who is determined to leave his criminal past behind him after serving a prison sentence. But an old debt forces him to commit one last break-in at the popular Brasserie Papillon. There, he encounters the mysterious Margot, a meeting that will bind them together in unexpected ways.

The film stars Aimé Claeys (“1985”), Maaike Neuville (“The Twelve”) and Matteo Simoni (“Zillion”).

“We are thrilled to bring this gripping and stylish thriller to the international market. ‘Night Creatures’ combines a gripping story with outstanding talent, that will resonate beyond European markets,” Andreas Rothbauer, founder and managing partner at Picture Tree, said.

“Night Creatures” was written by Christophe Dirickx and Nele Meirhaeghe, and produced by Peter Bouckaert and Nathalie Van Schelvergem.

The film is produced by Eyeworks Film & TV Drama in co-production with Phanta Film, and in cooperation with Scio Productions and Kinepolis Film Distribution. It was made possible with the support of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) of the government of Flanders, Screen Flanders, the Netherlands Film Production Incentive, and the Belgian federal tax shelter for film financing.

Picture Tree will present a diverse slate at the AFM, including “Hello Betty,” the true story behind Switzerland’s culinary icon Betty Bossi, which will have its Swiss release on Nov. 20; Lucy Liu’s dramatic thriller “Rosemead,” set for its U.S. release this December; additional footage of the medieval fantasy epic “The Stolen Child” by Sebastian McKinnon, which has wrapped shooting and is aiming for a 2026 premiere; the Spanish supernatural thriller “The Osha Rule,” starring Mariela Garriga (“Mission: Impossible”); as well as the 4K restored German classic “The Experiment,” directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.
