A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a triple stabbing in west London.

Safi Dawood is charged with murdering Wayne Broadhurst, as well attempting to murder Shahzad Farrukh, 45, and a 14-year-old boy, in relation to the incident in Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge on Monday, a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.

The 22-year-old, of the same street, has also been charged with one count of possessing an offensive weapon following the incident, the court was told on Thursday.

Mr Dawood was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey within the next 48 hours.

Wayne Broadhurst died at the scene, police said

Officers and paramedics were called to reports of a triple stabbing at about 17:00 GMT.

Mr Broadhurst, who was attacked while he was walking his dog, died at the scene who suffered multiple stab wounds including to his neck, chest and side, the court heard.

The 14-year-old boy and Mr Farrukh were also treated for stab wounds.

Mr Farrukh remains in hospital with life-changing injuries and the teenager who had injuries to his hand has been discharged, prosecutor Theo Woodhead told the court.

Mr Dawood entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 before claiming asylum, which was granted in 2022, the Home Office previously confirmed.

    ‘Devastating loss’

On Wednesday, Katarina Pohancenikova, managing director of Greener Ealing Ltd, confirmed that Mr Broadhurst was a binman at the council-owned firm but he was not on duty when he died.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Wayne’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,” she said.

“This is a devastating loss. Wayne was a well-respected and dedicated member of our team who made a real contribution to the work we do and to the residents we serve.”
