Getty ImagesA 32-year-old man has been arrested over a racially-aggravated rape in Walsall, police have said.
It comes after woman, aged in her 20s, was attacked in the Park Hall area of Walsall on Saturday night.
West Midlands Police said it was a “significant development” in the investigation and thanked everyone who came forward with information following an appeal on Sunday.
The force said the victim had suffered an “absolutely appalling attack”, and was being supported by specially trained officers.
Det Supt Ronan Tyrer said: “Our investigation will progress today, and, as always our priority is the woman who was the subject of this attack.
“She has been updated this morning and will continue to receive full support from specially trained officers.”
The force said it was continuing to appeal for anyone with information to contact them.
