Since 2021, Apple AirTags have been helping customers locate their lost keys, wallets, cars, and even beloved pets. Now, the tech giant is making it easier than ever for travelers to use these GPS trackers to reunite with their lost luggage.

Last November, Apple introduced a new feature for the Find My app called Share Item Location. This feature allows you to share the location of your AirTag with your family, friends, or in this case, airline customer service agents and baggage handlers, via a unique link. Thanks to this tool, your airline can now monitor your checked bag’s current location at the same time as you without you having to be present; previously, you might have found yourself stuck waiting at the baggage claim desk, using your phone to point out where your MIA luggage might be.

Initially, Apple shared that 18 commercial airlines, including Delta, United, and Lufthansa, would soon begin accepting Find My item locations of their passengers’ checked bags. According to a spokesperson with Apple, that number has now grown to 36 airlines worldwide and counting, with American Airlines and JetBlue joining the list this year.

While all of these participating airlines allow you to share your AirTag’s location with airline agents through email or delayed baggage forms, some airlines, like Delta, United, and Lufthansa, give you the ability to share and track it from their respective smartphone applications.

“While more than 99 percent of checked items make it to their destination as planned, we know how stressful it can be for customers when they don’t,” said Erik Snell, Delta’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, in the 2024 press release. “That’s why we’re excited to support Share Item Location beginning later this year. It will provide our team with extra visibility to reunite those items with their owners.”

So, if you’ve been on the fence about using Apple AirTags to track your luggage, there’s never been a better time to hop on the bandwagon. Ahead are three convenient ways to attach your AirTag securely to your luggage, starting at just $7.

If you’re new to AirTags and want to use them to track more than just your luggage, we recommend scooping up this four-pack of AirTag holder keychains. These shockproof, waterproof silicone holders can be stashed in your suitcase, attached to your car keys, or tucked into your wallet.

    Amazon

These fruit-themed luggage tags might just be the cutest way to keep track of your checked bag. Made with vegan leather and a stainless steel loop, this luggage tag has a matching protective AirTag holder attached. This two-in-one luggage accessory provides a central place for your personal information and your tracker, making it that much easier for handlers to get your luggage back to you.

    Caszlution AirTag Stick-on Mount 2-pack

    Amazon

If you’re looking for something more discreet, consider these stick-on AirTag mounts, $10. These stretchy AirTag pockets have an adhesive backing that can stick onto smooth, flat surfaces, like the inside of your suitcase. Plus, it comes in a pack of two, so you can stick one in your checked bag and the other in your carry-on.
